What is the purpose of the “coiled” part of the keyboard cable?

The braided cable, often also referred to as “coil, twisted, spiraled,” this part is purely aesthetic ! Some love it, others not so much; it all depends on personal taste and the theme.

If you prefer a simpler style (minimalistic and clean) or, on the contrary, want to highlight the “coiled” look of a cable to match keycaps, desk mats, or other elements…

Note that I adhere to a very strict process for it. First, all coils feature the “reverse coil,” meaning they are heated in the oven and then placed in the refrigerator twice, ensuring maximum rigidity and durability over time !

Why choose a custom cable over a standard USB-C cable ?

For many people, a simple braided USB cable might suffice for their keyboard, and there’s nothing wrong with that ! But isn’t it a bit sad to have a beautiful keyboard and not be able to showcase the essential amidst your desk?

A beautiful coiled usb c cable ! Plus, it will match perfectly with your keycaps, desk mat, desk, or other setup accessories. 👾

Of course, all cables from the store are compatible with all computers, whether PC, MAC, or any Apple device.

Keyboard Device Connector:

This is the part directly connected to the keyboard, with the primary end usually being USB-C, but Micro USB is also available for mechanical keyboards compatible with detachable cables.

Keyboard Host Connector:

Similar to the Device part but in reverse, this cable connects to the computer. The difference between the two connectors (USB A) and (CNC) is just that the latter has a metal end instead of being covered with heat-shrink tubing.

Coil Thickness:

Its thickness is a purely personal preference, with three sizes available (S), (M), (L), and the (M) size being the most popular on average. But it’s up to you to choose its length, whether you want it longer or shorter; similarly, the average choice is around 15cm.

PC/Host Cable Length:

This is the length of the second cable, the one that runs from the connector to the PC.

Paracord:

Paracord is a sheathed multi-strand nylon cord used for various purposes, including keyboard cables. It covers the first layer of the coiled usb c cable just before the techflex, with over 70 colors of it available on my store.

Techflex:

Techflex is a PET sleeve that comes as the second layer after the paracord. It adds an extra accent to bring out the chosen paracord’s look. You have the opportunity to create a unique match with your creativity ! Naturally, a wide range of colors is available on my store for your future custom cable.

Connector:

Before you ask: Same thing ! Here it’s purely for aesthetics, no performance gains/losses or anything. Several connector styles are available: “Lemos Style,” which are “push-pull” connectors, “YC8” like Lemos but with a slightly different look, “GX16,” which have a central ring that needs to be tightened by turning it, and “GX12,” which is like GX16 but smaller ! Heat Shrink Tubing:

Heat shrink tubing is the colored part on both sides of the connector as well as on the USB Device and Host.
